MEASURING, CLEANING & GASKETING

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Side rails and front cross bar must be CLEAN, DRY, AND WARM for proper gasket adhesion. A heat gun might be needed on cold days when a truck was just outside.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

isopropyl alcohol, clean paper towels. 3/8" gasket, 7/8" gasket, scissors, measuring tape, roller, and butyl tape patches.

INSTALLING CLAMPS AND SECURITY BRACKETS

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Ford F Series trucks DO NOT need hole saw holes on "Chubby" models. These use G-30 clamps.

Torque spec on clamps is 8 ftlbs. ITS IMPORTANT TO ALSO CHECK FOR LOOSENESS PHYSICALLY. If you can geta clamp to easily wiggle it's not tight enough.

Tools Needed:

Proper Clamps - ask us which ones for which trucks. 9/16" torque wrench. 7/16" wrench for security angle on "Skinny" campers.

If it its a CHUBBY model you may need a drill with hole saw. for "Chubby" security pieces you will also need pneumatic rivet gun with 3/16" nose.

DOOR GASKETING

SUPER IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE STARTING:

CLEAN, DRY, AND HEAT BOTTOM DOOR SURFACE PROPERLY. The tape on the gasketing LOVES a very clean, dry and warmish surface. This will greatly affect the initial bond and longevity of this gasket. Make sure to roll over gasketing several times and inspect for proper adhesion.

TOOLS NEEDED:

Isopropyl alcohol, clean paper towel, heat gun if its wet or cold, roller, scissors.
